  ·

Hi all!!!

Squire Bramble Greytwig (they/them) of Dragonspire here!

Fest is just a short while away and I wanted to talk to you about one of my classes that I’m teaching!

Have you all seen the growing number of mushrooms sprouting up around you? Are you curious how some of them have awesome mushrooms that they’ve plucked to wear? Have you ever wanted to join the hive mind? Well here’s your chance!

I’m pulling back the fantasy curtain and leading a workshop on a basic mushroom hat construction at Fest! (More specifically Friday at 12:30pm in the Livery Barn!)

The workshop is $40 and you’ll get to walk away with a how to guide for future mushrooms, and a basic mushroom hat (without added pearls and extra flare), and any leftover supplies! The $40 covers the cost of supplies needed. For this class I am asking as many people who plan on attending to RSVP and pre-pay if possible, just so I know the number of supplies needed to pick up!

I attached a really basic pre-reg form for you to fill out below!!!

  ·

Good evening once again everyone. I bring you more information about the Gilded Tankard Tavern happening Friday night during Oktfest. We are very happy to present our menu to you. We also will have a variety of domestic bottles and cans on offer which will vary. As we run low throughout the night we will remove items from the menu which will be posted beside the bar. We are also happy to announce that this year we will be serving popcorn for $2 per 4oz bag. All proceeds from this and the tip jar will go to making the tavern better next year and helping us cover expenses. Finally, I am also happy to announce that as a result of last years feedback the staff this year will be wearing uniforms consisting of a yellow sash with their role written on it. Please stay tuned as we continue to distribute promotional material.

Here is a handy info flyer on how you can earn coins for the gambling tables and the auction. These flyers will also be posted in most of the vendor stores as well as the tavern itself and the questing hut run by Dan-Krysten Reid. The vendors will be furnished with coins as soon I can get to them Wednesday. The tavern bank will open with the tavern. Please let us know if you have any questions or if you would like to work in the tavern we may still have some positions available.

The Eden Light Monster Battle

Bukor Shane Klukaczewski

  ·

The Ebon Light is proud to announce that we will be hosting monster battle on saturday October 5th near weapons check at 330 to 530 approx. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Rules will be handed out during the event.

2 new monster will appear at octfest.

So brave Heroes, Join us in a multi year story line to help defeat the Anarchy of Blight once and for all. Each monster is worth 1 medallion. Once 12 is collected it will unlock a boss to be fought the entirety of the following event. If a boss gets destroyed The Ebon Light will host a very midwest party to celebrate the victory at the following event after the bosses demise. Once all three Lich’s have been destroyed that will conclude the storyline.

*The Lore for our story line

Many moons ago a trio of Lichs called the “Anarchy of Blight” terrorized many farmers, towns and cities. The trio is made up of a powerful Necromancer, a Beholder and a Dragon. Many attempts were made to kill them, but all have failed. A slew of heroes banded together and were able to put each of the treacherous monsters who were all captured and protected by many glyphs and wards to prevent them from escaping.

Hundreds of years passed, and the evil was forgotten. The guilds that helped capture the creatures eventually all died off and those who fought them turned into nothing but myths and legend. The spells holding them started to fade and the Anarchy of Blight was able to escape their tomb. Once again releasing this evil onto civilization.

The Ebon light through their many journeys ran across ancient scripts to find and hunt down the Lich’s phylacteries. Many wars and miles were searched to find them but all three were destroyed. Leaving these immortal evil sorcerers’ mortal for the first time in centuries. With many evils to fight, The Ebon Light has put a bounty on the Anarchy of Blight. A call to Heroes to help turn the tide and put them to their grave for the last time. Are you brave enough to endure? To help fight the wars for the Anarchy of Blight they created monstrosities made out of dead soldiers to protect them. Whom take forms of ancient beasts such as a Hydra or a scorpion.

Open Discussion Re: Volunteers

Roland Keaton

  ·

Hail Oktoberfest 2024!!

I hope everyone is excited with the first day of the event a few days away. I wanted to discuss something that is heavily discussed, celebrated and criticized…Volunteers.

It seems there is a chism between the people who volunteer their time and efforts and the people who dont. There has been vitriol thrown both directions and the inevitable result is a shortage ov volunteers. This has been the case for all of the 17 years I have been fighting. However, recently I have noticed this chism widening. Look at the elections for BoD if you need an example. When was the last time you remember an actual election? Not just someone running unopposed.

On Saturday at Noon at the pavilion I will be hosting an Open Discussion about the volunteer culture that has developed in this game. Both pro and anti. I’m tired of hearing the complaints…I want to find a fix and implement, asap.

Please come and join in discussing how this game can be improved. I look forward to seeing you there!

Tournament details

AJ Mover

  ·

Hello, everyone! I am Squire Nea (AJ Mover), one of the people running tournaments at Okfest. My co-head is Squire Fingolfin (Steven Pick). First off, I’d like to apologize that this is being posted so late. Below, you will find the tournament schedule and the basic rules. Tournaments will be starting at 4pm and will be done in the order listed below. We are also taking a page out of Dur-Demarion’s book, and instead of listening to me talk for ten minutes (an experience none of us want to engage in), we’re using the tournament dossier developed by Apprentice Blue (Laurel Koenig) and Syr Talon (Ian Nichols). Please read through this before the tournaments. We will be asking if you’ve read it when you sign up. https://docs.google.com/…/1xmPu077y4KWJpoZhDB3S…/edit…

Thursday Tournaments:

New Person -1v1 fights, best of 3. If you have been fighting for three years or less, you are eligible to enter this tournament. All weapons that passed at weapons check that morning will be allowed, with the exception of white (Class 5) and yellow (Class 4) weapons. No armor will be allowed. Any changes will be left to the marshals’ discretion.

Sword & Board – 1v1 fights, best of 3. Any 1 Blue (Class 1) or Blue/Green (Class 1/3) weapon and 1 shield that passed at weapons check that morning will be allowed with the exception of flails and quarterstaves. Any changes will be left to the marshals’ discretion.

Friday Tournaments:

Archery Tournament – I will be running the combat archery tournament. Which is a team tournament with one archer and one boardperson. I’ve linked the rules we’ll be using written by Syr Talon https://docs.google.com/…/1_ppnH2AtX1H71z5WgQyyDjg…/edit

Short Red – 1v1 fights, best of 3. Any 1 Red (Class 2) or Red/Green (Class 2/3) weapon that is no longer than 66 in and passed at weapons check that morning will be allowed. Any changes will be left to the marshals’ discretion.

Spear – Spear/Green Only: 1v1 fights, best of 3. Any Green (Class 3) only weapon that is 5 ft or greater and passed at weapons check that morning will be allowed. Should a fight stall due to grappling or other circumstances (i.e. one or both opponents grabbing the other’s weapons) there will be a five count. After the count, the match will be paused and the fighters will be reset, retaining wounds and spacing to a marshal’s discretion. Any changes will be left to the marshals’ discretion.

Saturday Tournaments:

Single Blue – Single Blue: 1v1 fights, best of 3. Any 1 Blue (Class 1) or Blue/Green (Class 1/3) weapon that is no longer than 40in and passed at weapons check that morning will be allowed with the exception of flails and quarterstaves. Any changes will be left to the marshals’ discretion.

Four-Man – 4v4 best of 3. Any weapons including projectiles (weather permitting) that passed weapons check that morning will be allowed. Any changes will be left to the marshals’ discretion. NO armor will be permitted in this tournament.

If you have any questions please reach out to myself or Squire Fingolfin.

Pavilion walls

Mistie Williams

  ·

Do you see these pavilion walls? ONLY BILLIE CREEK AND THEIR HELP CAN RAISE OR LOWER THESE WALLS!

They are just really important. Super easy to break and super hard to fix if they get off track. They are also really expensive and we would very much prefer to not buy new ones for the site. So, even if there is a midnight monsoon…those walls do NOT move unless a park employee does it.
